Download CryptoPad
On Android, download CryptoPad right here. It is coming to the App Store and Google Play too; neither listing is public yet, and each button starts working the day its listing is.

The APK and the Google Play app will be signed differently, so one cannot update the other. Moving from one to the other means uninstalling it — and uninstalling deletes your keys.
Once it is installed, the guides take you from the first key to the first message. Open the guides
Installing the APK
- Tap Download. The browser saves the file; if it asks whether to keep it, keep it.
- Open the file from the browser’s Downloads. Android says it is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source: tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and go back. The permission is for the browser, not for CryptoPad, and you can turn it off again afterwards.
- Tap Install. Play Protect may say it has not seen an app from this developer before: tap More details, then Install anyway.
- Open CryptoPad. Nothing else needs setting up — the guide takes it from here.
CryptoPad does not update itself and never connects to the internet. When this page shows a newer version, download it and install it over the old one: your keys and contacts stay.
Check what you downloaded
Compare the file’s SHA-256 with the one above, for example with shasum -a 256 on a Mac. If they differ, the file changed on the way to you: do not install it.
